Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM)
This flagship mission aims to achieve ambitious solar energy targets by installing 375 GW of solar power capacity by 2027. It provides financial and technological support for various solar power projects, including rooftop and large-scale solar power plants.
Subsidy for Rooftop Solar Power Plants
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) offers a Central Financial Assistance (CFA) subsidy for rooftop solar power plants. The subsidy amount varies depending on the capacity of the plant and the beneficiary category (residential, commercial, industrial, etc.).
Development of Solar Parks Scheme

UDAY Scheme
This scheme focuses on reviving financially stressed power distribution companies (DISCOMs) by improving their operational efficiency. It also encourages DISCOMs to procure solar power to meet their renewable purchase obligations (RPOs).

Production Linked Incentive (PLI)
The PLI Scheme for National Programme on High-Efficiency Solar PV Modules is an initiative launched by the Indian government to boost domestic manufacturing of high-efficiency solar photovoltaic (PV) modules.
Selected manufacturers receive production-linked incentives on the sale of high-efficiency solar PV modules for five years after commissioning their facilities.
Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) Schemes
SECI, a public sector undertaking under MNRE, implements various schemes to promote solar power generation. These schemes include auctions for grid-connected solar power projects, rooftop solar programs, and solar power for agriculture.
The government also provides schemes and subsidies for individuals willing to install solar panels in their homes or premises.

Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana (Prime Minister’s Sunrise Scheme)
Launched in February 2024, this scheme aims to provide subsidies for installing rooftop solar panels on 1 crore Indian houses.
It targets middle- and lower-income families, helping them generate their own electricity and reduce their electricity bills.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (PM-KUSUM)
This scheme aims to promote solar power in the agricultural sector by providing subsidies for farmers to install solar pumps for irrigation and solar dryers for processing agricultural produce.
PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (Rooftop Solar Scheme)
This scheme offers subsidies for installing rooftop solar panels on residential houses. The subsidy amount varies depending on the capacity of the solar plant, ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 78,000.
